At For Rest, sustainability is woven into every detail of our guest experience. In line with our commitment to a more responsible future, we have thoughtfully replaced traditional plastic clothes horses with sleek, retractable drying racks.

Low-E glass
At For Rest Aparthotel, Low-E glass has been introduced as part of our sustainability efforts. This type of glass features a low emissivity coating that reduces heat gain or loss by reflecting long-wave infrared energy (solar heat), thereby decreasing the U-value and solar heat gain, and enhancing the energy efficiency of our glazing. Due to its neutral appearance and energy-saving properties, the installed Low-E glass on balconies and windows is expected to make our building more sustainable by reducing AC energy consumption by 20–40%. Additionally, over 80% of solar energy is reflected away, significantly limiting thermal energy loss—previously as high as 80%—through the windows.
Double layer curtains
At For Rest Aparthotel, we’ve installed a double layer of blackout curtains on the top floor as part of our sustainability efforts. These curtains are not only effective in enhancing insulation and blocking out light, but they also contribute to a more sustainable indoor environment by helping to regulate room temperature naturally. This reduces the need for excessive air conditioning, supporting our goal of maintaining a comfortable and energy-efficient living space.
Natural Lighting
At For Rest Aparthotel in Malta, our common areas are designed to make the most of natural light. This is a key element of our sustainability approach, as daylighting significantly reduces the need for artificial lighting, helping us save energy and lower electricity and air conditioning costs. Unlike electrical lighting, which generates considerable heat, natural light, when properly managed, adds brightness without increasing indoor temperatures, creating a more comfortable and energy-efficient environment.
Moving Sensors
At For Rest Aparthotel, motion sensors are used in various areas to support our commitment to sustainability. By connecting motion sensors to the lighting system, energy is only used when needed—lights automatically turn on when someone enters a room or corridor and switch off once the space is unoccupied. This smart solution helps reduce unnecessary electricity consumption and contributes to a more energy-efficient environment.

Waste Disposal
We’ve dedicated an area in front of the hotel with pedal bins for waste disposal. This initiative helps us reduce the use of plastic bags inside the apartments.
Upon arrival, guests are informed and encouraged to separate their waste as they would in their own homes. This is part of our ongoing commitment to sustainable improvement.

The For Rest Aparthotel has been providing amazing Malta vacations for over 35 years now! We’re comprised of ten large and self-catering studio apartments, four twin-bedroom apartments, and two one-bedroom apartments. Some of these apartments have a truly breathtaking view of the sea with St. Paul’s islands as a backdrop! Each apartment is very spacious and has its own balcony.
